Delayed Again
Delays and… more delays!
Found a hotspot in Nassau International Airport. Landed safely around noon and worked out way through customs and check in at the Bahamas Air gate with relative ease. Unfortunately, it is in the Bahamas Air terminal that we still sit five hours later. Mechanical delays and rainy conditions have pushed back a number of flights, so the “dominoe” effect has finally reached us. As of right now, we are scheduled to fly out of Nassau at 5:30 and arrive in Eleuthera around 6:00 p.m.
Also, our cell phones have not been able to make the international calls or texts that we were assured we could make while here. (Evidently, another couple overhead my story and said they used the same company and couldn’t call either). We used a local pay phone to connect with Richard Albury to inform him of our delays. So, until our cell phone issues are cleared up, parents (with an emergency) may call him at (242) 557-7574. This is his cell number. We’ll let you know when we get in touch with our cell phone company to clear this up.
The seniors are entertaining themselves, which proves that it CAN be done without technology! We are definitely tired, but attitudes have been excellent thus far. I shouldn’t have to coax too much to get everyone in bed at a decent hour tonight. =)
Thanks for your prayers and I hope to update again tonight when we are settled in at the Camp.
Touchdown in Charlotte
Eric texted the following at 6:43am:
“Landed safely in Charlotte! Nate and Casey’s first flight a success! I need COFFEE!”

Planning and Yearbooks
Sandy Good went through our flight itinerary and gave out some responsibilities
for the students for our trip – the “do’s and don’ts of international travel and some specific details for us to remember. We worked through some plans for Sunday morning. So, we are ready with three songs (one of which is Amazing Grace and the entire class is ready!). Alex, Beth and Drew are prepared to share a testimony of something that God is teaching them and Sandy and I are prepared with mini-sermons, just in case. The ministry team and choir members went to the Music Room to practice Hallelujah, What a Savior and How Can I Keep from Singing.
The seniors then got to work on three sessions each for the soccer and volleyball clinics. Ross will be proud to know that a couple of the guys who played for The Originals were involved in the planning! It’s been a fun night so far. We have a few more details to prepare for and then we should be off!
Sleep well, because we will not. =)
This is two mis…
This is two mischevious students, that Mr. Lewis so graciously trusts….with his computer and editing the blog. We are currently sitting on the cafteria floor while the rest of the students run around the school like a herd of elephants. (planning for Sunday)
p.s we would like to remind you that we are flying……………………………………………well, you know what could happen. But we are safe for now, See you in 10 days…………………………hopefully!……….let the countdown begin!
The Time Has Come!
The time has finally arrived! After a year of planning and prayer, and MORE prayer and planning, the twenty-two seniors in the Class of 2012 and six chaperones are ready to leave the campus of Lititz Christian and head to BWI for a 5:30 a.m. flight to the Bahamas on Saturday morning. While in the Bahamas, we will be serving at a Haitian-speaking church service on Sunday, physically preparing Camp Bahamas for their summer camping season and running some soccer and volleyball clinics for the local Bahamian children. We are very excited about this opportunity to step out of our comfort zones and serve others in another country and build relationships that may very well have an eternal impact.
If you don’t mind, we have some specific prayer requests that we would love for you to take before the Lord on our behalf:
- Safety on our journey and while we work (and that our luggage will ALSO arrive in the Bahamas with us!)
- Unity in mission – that we would be one (John 17:11)
- Quality relationship building with the Camp Bahamas team and the local Bahamians
- Life change – that this trip will impact our group and the people we meet, whether immediately or years down the road. The desire is always to see spiritual fruit in God’s timing and in His way!
Thanks for your support and prayer!

Time of Prayer at Grace Church
We will have a time of prayer for our senior trip this Sunday at 10:30 a.m. for those students and parents who attend Grace Church. We will meet in the new prayer room located across from the Nursery. Thanks!
Friday, May 18 – Final Gathering Before Departure
We will meet on Friday night, May 18 in the LCS Cafeteria at 7:00 p.m. for a time of prayer with students and parents, then we kindly ask that parents leave shortly thereafter so we can begin our preparations with the students to go over important details for Saturday.
After parents leave, we will be eating dinner as a group (probably pizza), so the group leaders can spend some focused time with the seniors. We will then be preparing luggage, going over packing lists one final time and reviewing travel itinerary.
Of course, as you know, we will be loading luggage sometime around midnight so we can leave promptly at 1:30 a.m. on Saturday morning.
Bed Sheets?
I contacted Richard Albury, the director of Camp Bahamas, and he communicated to me that if anyone purchases bed sheets to use for our week at the camp and then donate at the end of the week, they need to be: white, twin-fitted, flat and pillow case.
Hope this helps!
