Hi Everybody….Just an update, I spoke to Rick Bernhardt and he gave his blessing on the Fire and Ice activities. I have registered Lititz Christian as one of the 20 contestants in the Chili Cookoff, not sure yet how to select or come up with whose recipe we should use, a few of you offered up your own recipes and I don’t want to offend someone by not using their recipe, or should we pour them all together? Maybe we could post recipes and everyone indicate which seems most yummy by its ingredients and we go with the biggest vote getter. Once we decide I understand from the website that we’ll need, I think 10 gallons of the soup for the competition, so we’ll need volunteers to each make a batch of it. The cookoff starts at 11 on Saturday Feb 16th and goes until 3 I believe. Please check out the website for details of the Festival at http://www.lititzfireandicefestival.com. We may want to come up with costumes or something. We will also have a stand for Friday evening for the street fair and will need some volunteers. Jackie and I have a friendship with and a nice working relationship with Darrenkamps market and they have agreed to help us by supplying food and anything we need for that evening, we just need to totally man the stand. We’ll go over a menu later but will likely be limited to a soup or two, pork barbecue sandwiches, sausage sandwiches and like bottled water. We’ll get everything at cost and any/all monies earned will be towards the trip. I am to understand winning chili participants made several hundred dollars for their charities and in conjunction with Friday evening proceeds, this could be a 1,000 – 2,000 dollar money maker, maybe more. Some of you had questioned how the money is made at the chili cookoff….by tokens that can be bought ahead of time (see the website) or tokens/cash the day of the event. The cookoff will be at the Warwick High School cafeteria. Please respond with your recipes, thanks. More information will be forthcoming. Thanks…..Rod
