Some sight seeing after the quick lunch included driving around town, past the soccer stadium, and to a small market where we spent a little time shopping and browsing. Okay, so what is Kate going to do with a hammock?

After clearing customs, we met up with our guide (Dustin Woida) and we boarded a very nice bus which sped us off to lunch. Sleep still avoids most of us as we chase the adrenelin rush.

This time Austin and I were anticipating a great landing. Well we came in hot, did a pretty nice bounce, and then brakes were applied very harshly. But we were down and all good.

As we approached the runway at MIA and were at about 500feet, I noticed the plane bank quickly to the right, flare the engines for all they were worth and then bank the plane a harsh left while lifting the nose and beginning to climb with full throttle. I glanced toward Austin and said; “that’s not normal” (in a very calm yet questioning tone). We shared comments that this was definitely an unusual methodology for landing a plane, as we were still climbing. Then the captain came over the loud speaker and announced; “in case you are wondering, that is what we call a “go around”…..my words then were something like- yea a go around the other plane that was either taxiing on our path or the one that took off?!!!

We finally began checking luggage around 4AM and then went thru security…and yes Macbeths, I was Adam’s guardian so he could get a pat down. There are no pictures of that because I was also having to show security all thru my carry-on. I told them I’d get hung up. But all went well and we made it onto the plane in PHL.

According to American Airlines, it looks like our team landed safely in San Jose, Costa Rica this afternoon.  (Note that Costa Rica is two hours behind EST.)  We will await to hear from the team leaders when they have internet access at the hotel.  Thanks!

We realized that we were in the right place when we got dropped off, so here we are going back to original dropoff point.

It’s 2AM and I’m guarding the flock. After leaving LCS at around 10:30PM (May 17th), we arrived in good time at the PHL airport. As we were unloading the trailer we could not help but notice the small car which had pulled directly behind it which was smoking from under its hood excessively. Then we realized that we had unloaded at the wrong location, but after a short walk we entered our terminal which was void of all life forms. The openly exposed check-in area did not seem like a good place to lay our bodies since we would be exposed on all sides, so we headed up an escalator and laid claim to an area approximately 20’X40′ where we could sack out in our own little niche. The picture is the crew only a few minutes ago and it seems all are getting at least a little sleep.
